Broadhempston Primary School

Welcome to our school

Broadhempston Primary School – a place to grow, explore and achieve.

We are proud to welcome you to Broadhempston Primary School – a small, friendly and inclusive school set in the beautiful Devon countryside.

At the heart of our school is a warm and vibrant community where every child is recognised as an individual and encouraged to thrive both academically and personally. We really get to know our children and the families in our care and pride ourselves on knowing what motivates and inspires them and the best way to support them when they need it.

Our dedicated staff create an environment where learning is engaging, inspiring and meaningful. Children benefit from small class sizes, a creative and balanced curriculum and the unique opportunity to take part in regular Forest School sessions in our community woodland space. The children get the opportunity to explore and learn about their environment and gain self-awareness, confidence, self-esteem and social skills. They are given the freedom to explore and make choices about their learning.

The key aim of the school is to produce confident children who are literate and numerate, enjoy a breadth of opportunities to develop a sense of creativity and community and who have the skills necessary to support their future learning and make a difference on their doorstep and beyond. Whether your child is exploring mathematical concepts, writing imaginative stories, singing in a school production or building dens in the woods – they are supported to grow in confidence, independence and curiosity every step of the way.

Rated “Outstanding” for Behaviour and Attitudes and Personal Development by Ofsted, we offer a calm, respectful and thriving environment where pupils feel safe, supported and valued. Our caring ethos ensures every child is happy and motivated to learn.

With links to our partner schools within the Trust, the church and the local community, our children are given varied learning experiences. As they move through the school the children have opportunities to develop their talents in a range of different ways that will underpin their confidence and enable them to achieve their goals. During their time with us, children learn how important it is to support everyone else and work in harmony to make our little school a very special place to be.

We are all very proud of our small school which has a big heart and we invite you to visit us, meet our wonderful children and staff and experience the unique spirit of Broadhempston Primary School.
