School Uniform

We’re delighted to announce the introduction of a new active school uniform for the 2025/26 academic year.

The idea was first proposed at our recent School Life Group meeting and since then, we have received positive feedback from the class representatives as well as the pupils.

The new active uniform will encourage a more active lifestyle throughout the day and has been designed with comfort, practicality and flexibility in mind perfect for a busy school day that might include everything from classroom learning to physical activity.

The new uniform will be provided by VX3, a local company who currently provide sportswear uniforms to educational establishments and clubs across the country. They offer a postage or collection service.

The two compulsory items that will be embroidered with the new school logo will be the Fortis Polo and the Fortis Quarter Zip Sweat. Both are navy with a sky blue accent.

The polo has a folded collar and two button fastening placket with short sleeves. The wicking technology keeps the skin cool and comfortable whilst the lightweight construction offers added comfort. It is made from a high performance fabric with flat lock seams for next to skin comfort The quarter zip sweat is made from a soft handle/ high performance fabric which has wicking technology that sweeps sweat away from the skin and comes with long sleeves with elasticated cuffs. The quarter zip fastening to the neck provides a comfortable fit and it is lined with brushed back fleece.

The company also offer other embroidered items including a rain jacket and a cap.

The polo shirt is priced at £19 and the quarter zip sweat is £29. Whilst the upfront cost of the quarter zip is comparable to the combined price of the current school jumper/cardigan and PE hoodie (£26.90 – £30.50), the polo shirt is slightly higher but both items offer significant long-term savings. They are both made from durable, easy-care fabrics that are built to last reducing the need for replacements throughout the year. The navy colour is not only practical and smart but also helps keep uniforms looking cleaner/smarter for longer. We understand that some families have previously opted for non-branded cheaper alternatives but these new pieces are designed to withstand regular washing and daily wear, offering better value over time.

The bottom half of the new active uniform has also been designed with flexibility, affordability and comfort in mind. All items are non-branded so they can be purchased from a wide range of high street or online retailers so it remains a practical, inclusive and cost-effective option for families. Children can choose from the following plain black options: tracksuit bottoms/joggers, sports style shorts (not cycle/cargo shorts) or skorts with the option to wear plain black tights underneath if preferred. Plain black leggings are permitted but only on PE days. Children are free to choose whichever of these items they feel most comfortable in. As for footwear, it should be suitable for PE (indoor and outdoor) as well as other outdoor activities and as plain black as possible. On PE days, children may bring in alternative trainers to change into if needed.

To get along with our new look, we are also redesigning the school logo. Once that is agreed we will be able to begin the transition to the new uniform which will be fully embedded by September 2026. This means that if you already have good-quality items from the current uniform set, you are welcome to continue using them for the time being. This phased introduction supports a more sustainable approach by allowing families to continue using existing uniforms while transitioning gradually.

We’re excited to move forward with this fresh approach to school wear and we thank everyone who contributed their thoughts and feedback along the way.
