At our school, we are passionate about looking after the environment, and our Eco Group plays a key role in helping us do just that.
Children who are interested in joining apply to be part of the group and a team is chosen to represent the school. Together, they take responsibility for caring for our planet and encouraging others to do the same.
The Eco Group works on an action plan based on important environmental themes such as recycling, saving energy, reducing waste, protecting nature and looking after our school grounds. They share ideas, set goals, and lead projects that everyone in the school can get involved in.
One of their big aims is to achieve the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award which shows that our whole school community is committed to being more sustainable and environmentally friendly.
Through this work, children learn how small changes can make a big difference. They also become leaders in protecting the environment, inspiring others to take action and helping our school to be a greener, cleaner place.
Our eco team for this year
We’re so proud to have received our Green Flag Award plaque and certificate for 2025! Eco-Schools were really impressed that our pupils took their amazing eco work beyond the school gates helping at home and in our local community. They also loved our Global Citizenship projects including our link with our school in Uganda, all our Super Kind Projects and fundraising and how we’ve made sustainability part of our learning in lots of different subjects.
A huge well done to Mrs Cleverley, our Eco-Committee and everyone in our school community for working so hard to care for our planet.
Here’s to another year of learning, leading, and protecting our planet together!
The Eco Committee took part in the RSPB big bird watch last week. They were excited to spot 3 robins, a blue tit, a great tit, a magpie, a starling as well as some sparrows, wood pigeons and guls. Excellent spotting everyone!
Over the weekend, two of our children took it upon themselves to do a litter pick in the area where they live.
Although they were disappointed to find so much litter scattered around their neighbourhood, they didn’t let it stop them. Instead, they rolled up their sleeves, filled their bag and made a real difference right where they live.
Well done girls for caring about our environment and setting such a brilliant example for us all - small actions really do make a big impact.
The Eco committee from Kingfisher class along with some other volunteers from the class worked wonders on the veg beds by the village hall. They mulched 3 beds with cardboard and sowed 3 varieties of broad beans after preparing another bed. A blackcurrant plant was also added! Thank you to Angela from Food for Thought who came to support us with our gardening.
