At Broadhempston, every class gets the chance to visit Forest School at The Beacon and it’s always a highlight!
Forest School is all about learning outdoors, exploring nature, and trying new challenges in a safe and exciting environment. When we go to Forest School, we might build dens, hunt for mini-beasts, create art from natural materials or learn how to light a campfire safely. Sometimes, we simply enjoy walking among the trees and listening to the birds.
Why is it important?
-
Confidence & Independence – Children get to try new things, take small risks, and discover just how much they can do.
-
Teamwork – Many activities need cooperation, problem-solving, and listening to others’ ideas.
-
Connection with Nature – Spending time outdoors helps children understand and care for the environment.
-
Wellbeing – Fresh air, exercise, and time in green spaces are brilliant for boosting mood and focus.
Forest School is more than just an outdoor adventure – it’s a place where learning feels magical, where muddy boots mean a day well spent, and where every child can grow in confidence, creativity, and care for the world around them.
